The PLT® Solas set is our newest Pneumatic Line Thrower specifically made to comply with IMO SOLAS 74/96 regulations. For a vessel only looking to comply with the regulation, the PLT® Solas set is the logical product to have.
It is hassle free as it has no expiry date, meaning it stays with the vessel for the life time of the vessel.
It is not dangerous goods, so it can be shipped globally by air.
The set takes approximately the same space as a complete pyrotechnical set.
When the PLT air Cylinder is filled, the air lasts for at least five years.
The PLT® Solas Launching Unit works on either 200 bars (2900 psi) or 300 bars (4350 psi) and is refilled by using a high-pressure air compressor. Choosing between the two choices depends on national rules or depending on what the available compressor can deliver. In Canada and USA, national regulations demand the use of 200 bars (2900 psi) air cylinder.
It can be used again immediately after being refilled with compressed air. Since the PLT® Launching Unit works on compressed air, it does not have an expiry date and is not considered as dangerous goods.
The PLT® Solas Projectile is specially made to work with the PLT® Solas Launching Unit and the PLT® Solas Launching Tube. It has 250 meters of pre- installed 3,2mm Nylon Line. The Line has a breaking strength of 2000N and the projectile and line floats.
When the line is dry and clean, the launching distance is between 230-250 meters.
